ANAC to use IAF CertSearch to verify certificates

The IAF recently announced that the Italian Anti-Corruption Authority (ANAC) has recognized the value of the IAF CertSearch database for validating the management system certificates required to participate in public tenders in Italy, and will move to the exclusive use of IAF CertSearch for verification. ANAC is an independent Italian administrative body responsible for preventing corruption in public administration. Until now, ANAC electronically confirmed the validity of certificates issued in Italy under the accreditation of ACCREDIA. This new development will allow ANAC to extend this type of control to all certificates that will be considered acceptable in Italy through public tenders.

Automated verification is likely to start from 1 September 2023 and will initially be limited to ISO 9001 (IAF Code 28) certified construction companies, with plans to expand to other codes and management systems in the near future.

In order to provide the best possible service and avoid any disruption or inconvenience to Accredited Management System Certification Bodies and their clients, IAF reminds Accreditation Bodies to upload their relevant accreditations to IAF CertSearch, and accredited certification bodies to upload their relevant certificates. IAF CertSearch is a publicly available database that allows users to verify the validity of management system certificates issued worldwide by certification bodies accredited by IAF MLA signatory accreditation bodies to the main scope of ISO/IEC 17021-1. This announcement by ANAC further reinforces the value and importance of IAF CertSearch.
